On Trying Something New

hi, hi. summer is basically a permission slip to move your body in a way you never have before.

longer days, warmer light, a little more time to yourself.

it's the season for swapping your usual routine for something that flutters your stomach a bit. you don't have to be good at it. you just have to show up in something soft and try. here are five little lanes to wander down for your next class or weekend plan. pick one, bring a friend, and see what stays. ୨୧

by the water 🐚

if it involves water, it counts as summer.

if it involves water, it counts as summer. those are simply the rules.

surfing and paddleboarding work your whole body without ever feeling like a workout, and SUP yoga adds a wobbly, meditative kind of balance.

kayaking is a gentle way to get your arms going while you drift somewhere pretty. and don't overlook a few quiet laps in the pool. it's the softest full-body cardio there is.

cool water, warm sun, nothing to prove.

under the sun 🧗‍♀️

the studio is lovely, but summer's calling you outside.

the studio is lovely, but summer is begging you to take it outside.

rock climbing and bouldering are having a moment, and most indoor walls are sweeter to beginners than you'd think.

pickleball is the social one. easy to learn, impossible to put down, and you'll leave with new friends.

hiking and trail walks trade screen time for real views and flushed cheeks, and roller skating is pure joy dressed up as cardio.

joy, dressed up as cardio.

find your flow 🧘‍♀️

less about sweat, more about feeling like yourself again.

some movement is less about sweat and more about feeling gently reconnected to your body.

aerial yoga lets you hang, stretch, and unspool your spine like recess for grown women.

pilates and barre build long, quietly strong muscles and lovely posture without ever feeling harsh.

ballet and dance classes are humbling in the best way. you'll giggle at yourself and leave standing taller.

the classes that quietly change how you carry yourself.

soft but strong 🥊

nothing daintier than knowing what your body can do.

there's nothing daintier, honestly, than knowing exactly what your body can do. muay thai and kickboxing melt stress while teaching you to throw a real punch, and that quiet confidence follows you everywhere. jiu jitsu is especially worth trying — it's built on leverage and technique over size and strength, which makes it one of the loveliest ways for a woman to build confidence and learn to protect herself. boxing is a full-body, worry-melting workout disguised as a skill.

you'll walk out a little braver than you walked in.

bring your girls 🍓

the best workouts barely feel like working out.

the best workouts barely feel like working out, because you're too busy laughing with your people.

beach volleyball is the ultimate summer sport. sun, sand, and zero pressure to be good at it.

a rec league for soccer or ultimate frisbee is an easy, giggly way to stay moving all season. and if you want something different, look up a local rowing or dragon boat crew and go as a pair.

gather your girls, and let summer do the rest.
